There is no automatic machine behind the bar. Every coffee is made by hand, one at a time, which is why the eleven o'clock queue moves slowly and nobody seems to mind.

One street back from the seafront
The Bakery is not on the front. It is on Carrer Migjorn, the short quiet street that runs down towards the riuet, about ninety metres from the water. It is a two-minute walk from the beach and a far better place to sit than the promenade.
Leo is the one behind the bar. The cakes are made here, in the same room, which is why the case is never the same two days running: what is in it is what came out that morning.
The regulars come at the same hour, and so do the visitors who find the street by accident. They all end up at the same tables.
